You don't feel comfortable paying over £100 to sleep in a bed in the city of London. And you should not be comfortable doing it. It's disgustingly expensive. Why use wool produced by a Cashmere goat when Welsh sheep wool gives you approximately the same level of comfort for 1/3 of the price, right?

Why is it so expensive to sleep in London?
The price of land is high and there is no space to "expand." The city is where it is. The average price of a hotel room in London was £115 in 2007. But, it doesn't has to be like that. Allow me to give you some tips on cheap London hotels.

1. Travelodge
Budget hotel chain Travelodge have been know to sell hotel rooms for as cheap as £9. To get this price you need to book 6-7 months in advance.

Too good to be true? The hotel must be crappy, right?

No. It is quite good actually. You won’t find much individuality here – rooms tend to follow a set formula and are sometimes pretty bland and uninspiring, though the company has made efforts to make its decor more colouful in recent times. You will find decent service in venues which are clean
and comfortable, which is possibly more important. But Travelodge will give you all the basics you associate with large hotel chains.

Some Travelodge hotels have WIFI. Not everyone, check first.

2. easyHotel
easyHotel aims to offers you a safe, clean room for the night at the best possible price. Designed for city centres, the idea is that customers will accept less space for a better price. After all, when visiting a city like London all you need the hotel room for is to sleep and store your luggage? So, if you can accept a hotel room of 6-7 sqm metres you'll be able to get away with paying £25 (taxes incl.) for one night's stay. The rooms are clean with en suite bathrooms and a bed.

The rooms are so tiny that all you really can do there is sleep.

They also got WIFI (£5 a day). But your back will ache after a while because you have to sit in your bed working on your computer...

3. Holly House Hotel
Holly House Hotel offers affordable accommodation in a central location (Close to Victoria train Station). With amenities including central heating, a small fridge, attached shower/bathroom, colour television and tea and coffee making equipment, its rooms are simple but cosy and make a great base for exploring the city.

Single rooms with ensuite bathroom costs £49. No WIFI.
