Grab a cheap sandwich or cook up a storm with budget ingredients

Every little helps

This UK supermarket chain is highly ambitious; it’s currently opening stores across the US. Back at home it’s the most successful store, catering for consumers of all classes and incomes with its three tiers of products: Tesco Value, Standard and Tesco Finest. You can grab a fresh sandwich and a piece of fruit for less than £2 at one of its Metro or Express outlets (generally smaller venues in city and town centres). If you’re on a budget, it’s even better to buy the basic ingredients for a meal and cook in your hostel. Spag bol anyone?
