Plantlife

The Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew comprise the extensive gardens and botanical glasshouses between Kew and Richmond in south-west London. Usually referred to just as Kew Gardens, they are home to 550 species of grasses, some 14,000 trees, 56 species and hybrids of Holly and colourful fungi as well as museums, galleries and glasshouses featuring many plant varieties. There are regular exhibitions and the Gardens are a key centre for conservation and environmental research.

There are various difference prices depending what you want to see, with the basic price to enter the Gardens as follows: -

Adults: £12.25
Concessions: £10.25
Children under 17 (accompanied by an adult): free
Late entry (45 minutes before Glasshouses close): £10.25

Free guided tours are available every day except Christmas day.

Why should I go there?

Kew Gardens can be a refreshing change from museums and art galleries. Taking you away from the hectic city centre, this attraction nevertheless has considerable historic importance. Once inside the 300 acres, you’ll forget you’re in one of the world’s capitals as you become intoxicated by the sights and smells of the various plant life. It’s a relaxing place, where you can take things easy and enjoy the sunshine or learn about the Gardens’ history and environmental research.
