Over a million objects tell London's story through the ages.

In 1666, London burnt like rotten sticks...

Here’s a museum popular with tourists and savvy Londoners alike. It demonstrates the richness of the capital’s history, taking visitors on a chronological journey from prehistoric times to the present day. Imaginative displays bring London to life through the ages, and you can dip in and out if you’re short of time.

Why should I go there?

You’re here to see London, and what better way to understand the city than by finding out a little more about its past? Highlights include Roman London with recreated streets, a walk-through exhibit of recreated Victorian shops, an impressive gilded coach and the World City galleries, which feature oral histories of the capital. Don’t miss the Great Fire diorama, which tells the story of that famous incident that started in a Baker’s Shop on Pudding Lane – and crucially, looks at the lasting impact the fire had on the city.

Where is the Museum?

The Museum of London is at 150 London Wall, London EC2Y 5HN. The nearest tube stops are St Paul’s and Barbican.
