Situated in one of London’s most leafy central areas, Acacia provides low-cost, basic accommodation in dormitory rooms. All rooms have satellite TV, dining tables and washbasins and there are communal kitchen, shared bathroom and laundry facilities. One London website warns this backpackers hostel “is only suited to students, backpackers and those on an extremely tight budget”. If that’s you, and you don’t expect any frills though, it’s an excellent affordable option in a central location.

Here you can get a bed in a single-sex six-bed dorm for £8.50, including a continental breakfast – bargain! If you want to spend a bit more, £12 will buy you a bed and breakfast in a five bed dorm, while a basic triple room with brekkers is £45. A quad room is £58, while a five-person room is £68, both including your brekkie.
Why is it a good choice for a budget traveller?
This is a well situated and cheap option, particularly if you want to visit some of the sites in ‘Museumland’ along Cromwell Road – the (all free) National History Museum, Science Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum are just a stone’s throw away. If you’re feeling energetic, you can save more money by walking to Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament. There’s so much to keep you occupied that even if your room’s rubbish, it won’t matter too much. With shared cooking facilities, you can keep food costs down too.
Where is the hotel?
The address is 14 Queensberry Place, SW7 2EA. The nearest tube is South Kensington, darling – it’s one of London’s most ‘well to do’ and sought after areas.
